Be Honest with Yourself and Your Readers
Subject to the agreement you form with an advertiser, you are free to write or say whatever you want. PayPerPost itself has no restrictions on how you express your genuine thoughts on an advertiser's product or service. It's up to you to pick the Opportunities that best suit you and your blog. If it doesn't feel right, if you don't own the product, or if you can't be honest we ask you to pass on the Opportunity. Dishonest or completely off-topic posts can ultimately hurt your blog's credibility. We strongly encourage you to only take opportunities that relate to you and to alert us if an advertiser ever suggests that you be dishonest.
Disclosure is Required
Your readers trust you. PayPerPost is committed to keeping it that way. That's why we insist on a strict policy of full-disclosure when you discuss an advertiser's product or service on your blog. By receiving payment for blogging about a certain topic, even if you would have written about that topic anyway, you run the risk of giving the impression of a conflict of interest. By showing your audience, in a very visible and proactive manner, that you are being paid for that content, you will maintain the trust of your readers and avoid any appearance of impropriety.
We just want to make sure your readers know that you are being paid for part of your content. With that objective, we have created a few tools to help:
The Disclosure Badge example on this page is a representation of graphical icon that informs the reader that a particular piece of content is a sponsored post. Advertisers may request that you place these icons next to the appropriate content in your blog as a signal to your readers.
In-Post Text Based DisclosureIn the event that an advertiser does not request a Disclosure Badge you are free and encouraged to disclosure within the post itself via a text disclosure. Example of test disclosures include: This Post Sponsored by ACME, This Post Brought to you by AMCE, Thank you to my Sponsor ACME. Always thank the sponsor themselves, not PayPerPost.
Site Wide Disclosure PolicyYou can choose to adopt a site wide policy that lets your readers know that you accept sponsored posts. This policy MUST be displayed in a prominent place that is easy for your readers to locate. You can generate a Disclosure Policy at disclosurepolicy.org
Truth-in-advertising is extremely important to us. It is your responsibility to follow our full disclosure policy and inform your readers about your relationship with our advertisers. PayPerPost reserves the right to remove you from our system or cancel bounties if you violate this policy. If you have questions about our policy or suggestions on how to improve it or better enforce it, please contact customer support.
